Hi, my name is Isabella and in January 2014, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, a form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (a hereditary auto-immune disease). In short, this means that my body attacks itself.
The diagnosis made me feel like my entire world was falling apart. In 2013, I was seemingly healthy, going to the gym four or five days a week and eating nutritious meals, when suddenly I began experiencing extremely painful, frightening IBD symptoms, which usually develop over a much longer period of time. One night, my boyfriend drove me to the ER, where I was admitted for acute pancreatitis. Over the next week, after a series of tests, the GI doctor assigned to my case gave me the diagnosis, explained that my entire large intestine was ulcerated, and prescribed me a slew of medications. I was put on a low-residue diet and released within a couple of days.
I’ll be using this blog to chronicle my struggles, victories, and daily life. I will also post videos occasionally and maybe even recipes. Ultimately, my goal is that maybe someday, when someone else is diagnosed with IBD, that person will stumble upon this blog and find some comfort in knowing he is not alone in this.
About me but not about IBD:
